Send photos
Take two photos of each stump: one up close with a tape measure across the top, and one from about 20 feet back so I can see the access. Use the form, or just text me.

I grind it
I call Dig Safe, grind the stump below ground level, rake and level the chips into the hole and clean up. Dig Safe takes about 3 business days to mark the lines, so most jobs are scheduled within a week.
Hi, I'm Jon
I live in Brimfield and run Big Jon Stump Grinding myself. I use a Vermeer SC362 that fits through a 36-inch gate and handles everything from small ornamentals to big New England oaks and maples.
I'm not a big crew with a long wait list. I'm a local guy who answers his phone, shows up when he says he will, and leaves your yard clean.
What I do
Stump grinding
Any size, from small ornamentals to big oaks and maples, ground below the grass line.
Multiple stumps
After the tree crew has been through, or a whole cleared lot.
Surface roots
Grinding out the roots running across the lawn from the stump.
Tight backyards
The grinder fits through a 36-inch gate, so fenced yards are no problem.
Cleanup included
Chips raked and leveled into the hole, walks and driveway blown clean. The chips stay on site. I don't haul them away.

Why hire a one-man outfit?
You deal with the owner
When you call, you get me. When the grinder shows up, I'm running it.
Safety first
I have Dig Safe mark buried lines before I grind. A chip curtain keeps debris where it belongs.
Clean finish
Chips raked and leveled into the hole, driveway and walks blown clean. The only call-back I want is for your next stump.
Straight pricing
A firm price before I start. No surprises.
Who I work for
Homeowners
One old stump or a whole yard full. Send a photo and I'll take it from there.
Tree services
Don't run a grinder? Send me the stumps after the takedown. Text me the address and photos and I'll handle it.
Landscapers and builders
Clearing for a patio, garden or new build? I'll get the stumps below grade so your crew can get to work.
Realtors and property managers
Getting a house ready to list, or keeping a property tidy? Quick turnaround, and nobody needs to be there.

Common questions
How much does stump grinding cost?
It depends on the stump's size, how many there are, roots and access. Send a photo for a free, firm price. No obligation.
Do I need to be home?
Nope. As long as I can get to the stumps and any gates are unlocked, you don't need to be there.
How deep do you grind?
Usually 4–6 inches below ground, enough to mow, seed or lay sod. I can go deeper if you're planting a tree or putting in a patio. Just ask.
What happens to the wood chips?
I rake and level them into the hole and around it as best I can. They settle and break down over time. I don't haul chips away, so they stay on your property. Plenty of people use the extras as mulch.
Will the grinder damage my lawn?
The SC362 is relatively light, on wide tires, and I lay out a path when needed. Expect a little disturbance right around the stump, and that's it.
Do you check for underground utilities?
Yes. I call Dig Safe (811) before I grind, so gas, electric and water lines are marked. It takes them about 3 business days to come out and mark everything, so I build that into the schedule.
